The rapes are violent but without graphic details. A girl has implied sex with her boyfriend in a graveyard. The two main characters spend a night in his rented room clearly having sex, without graphic details and no reference to protection. They are obsessed with each other. One scene of students drunk at a school dance; one drunken boy attempts to rape the main character and a drunk girl is raped by someone else. Parents need to know that this book, first published in , has been loosely made into a TV show.
It bears no resemblance to the vampire sensation Twilight other than that a vampire poses as a new high school student and a local girl falls for him. In fact the TV show and Twilight actually seem more similar. The book is very dated and pretty sexist. It is much more a horror story than a romance with graphic violence, including descriptions of the vampire murders of people and animals such as a pet dog. There is an attempted rape of the main character and a brutal rape of another girl.

Main characters have sex, barely described. The female characters are not strong, independent, or otherwise positive characters. Unlike more recent depictions, these vampires have no remorse. A mysterious new student Stefan arrives at a high school and the most popular girl in school Elena becomes obsessed with him, especially when he tries to ignore her.
She uses everyone around her to get him to notice her. Meanwhile murders of animals, pets, and humans start happening around town -- not the time to use the local graveyard as a hook-up spot. When tragedy strikes and Elena and another girl are assaulted it finally gets Stefan's attention.
This is definitely not a Twilight wannabe. Instead of tons of pining and talk of handsome otherworldy characters and their allure there are almost lurid descriptions of vampires hunting and feeding on animals -- including beloved pets and humans. Gratuitous assaults and a rape do not enhance a story that is basically about life in high school 20 years ago; no cell phones, no Internet, no strong femal characters. User Reviews Parents say Kids say. Adult Written by CattheBat February 25, For centuries, individuals have been trying to prove the existence of ghosts. But now as science and technology have progressed, ghost hunters have been able to use scientific means, along with more traditional psychic tools, to make their case.
Photographs, video recordings, and sound recordings are all producing some amazing results. In this new series, Ghost Huntress, meet Kendall Moorehead, a seemingly typical teen. When her family moves from Chicago to the small historical town of Radisson, Georgia, her psychic abilities awaken. Pages : Carton Quantity : Age s : 12,13,14,15, Grade s : Gibson is clearly a believer, but manages to maintain a realistic feel and avoid any sensationalization or melodrama that would push the story over the edge. Teens who watch Ghost Whisperer or Haunting Evidence, who flock to everything Buffy, or who like their ghosts to feel real with a hint of humor and romance will eat this up and eagerly await the next installment in the Ghost Huntress series.
This is the third night in a row this has happened. Ever since we moved from my beloved twenty-two-hundred-square-foot high-rise condo on the Gold Coast of Chicago to this creaky old Victorian house here in Radisson, Georgia—i. A teenager like me needs the proper amount of rest or else her growth will be stunted. Now this whole insomnia prob. Oh, like dark circles under my eyes are going to make me even more popular when I start my new school tomorrow.
Hmm, probably not. I mean, living in downtown Chicago since my birth, I got used to the noise of a city: The cacophony of cars, taxis, and delivery trucks. The hustle and bustle of tourists and townies alike trekking around the Windy City.
Review: Hawkman Vol. 1: Awakening trade paperback (DC Comics) ~ Collected Editions
The El with its metallic symphony along the rails. Not this unbelievably earsplitting silence of Main Street in Radisson, Georgia. What I want is to see the inside of my eyelids and some colorful, vivid dreams of the Justin Timberlake or Channing Tatum variety.
